Canada & Arizona Business

Arizona’s trade with Canada increased 13.3% in the first half of 2010, over $127 million in six short months.

Canada is the largest and fastest growing component of Phoenix International Travel.

Phoenix to Canada flight passengers

Since 2005, Arizona has enjoyed a rapid increase in travel between Phoenix and Canada. These numbers have grown as airlines have added 80 plus flights a week in 2010, specifically from Western Canada. Eastern Canada has also become more engaged by adding more scheduled flights from Toronto, and they have also added a nonstop flight from Montréal (to offer an alternative to Florida). In fact, in the first nine months of 2010, Arizona exports to Canada grew a staggering 15%, compared with the same period in 2009.

United Kingdom$447 million$504 million
Singapore$344 million$492 million

Thailand$210 million$426 million
Malaysia$254 million$292 million
France$386 million$289 million
World$10.3 billion$11.5 billion

With transportation at the top of both the import and export lists between Canada and Arizona, this number can only be expected to rise with the addition of all the new flights. If Canadian Charter Airlines like Sunwing and Transat add Phoenix to their charters as well, we believe over time it will not be hard to reach a million Canadians a year visiting Arizona during the next 5 years.
