ARIZONA AND CANADA: MAKING THE CONNECTION

On Thursday, October 25, 2007 - Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano Opens the Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange Markets in Toronto along with CABC CEO Glenn Williamson

 


 

Representatives from Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange recently visited Phoenix as part of its U.S. business development campaign. The Arizona Governor‘s opening of the TSX is a stopover in a trade mission to Canada. In hopes to further the Arizona-Canada business relationship, Governor Napolitano is visiting Ottawa, Toronto and Winnipeg throughout October.

In a nutshell

~ In the past year, there has been a 45 percent increase in Arizona employees working for Canadian companies.

~ Canadian investments in the United States, especially in Arizona, have increased dramatically in the past five years.

~ Visitation from Canada to Arizona has nearly doubled from 255,000 visitors in 2002 to 496,300 visitors in 2006.

~ In 2006, Arizona and Canada exchanged $3.5 billion in bilateral trade and Arizona exported more than $1.8 billion worth of products to Canada, making it Arizona's second largest export market.
